OUR PASTORS

Rev. Dr. Jacob David

Rev. Jacob holds a bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Kerala, India.   In 1984, he received a Masters Degree in Divinity from the Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Virginia.  He later went on to do his graduate studies at Drew University in Madison, NJ and graduated with a Ph.D. in Liturgics and Homiletics.  He was ordained a Deacon in 1984 and to the Priesthood in 1985 for the Diocese of Newark.  He served at the Church of the Resurrection in East Rutherford, NJ as a Vicar from 1985-2000 and, later on, became rector of St. Paul’s and Resurrection Church in Wood-Ridge, NJ. 

 

 In 1998, he received “the Priest of the year award” (Canterbury Scholar Award)  from the diocese of Newark and was sent to Canterbury, England for studies in Anglicanism. Fr. Jacob has been teaching in Unification Theological Seminary, NYC as an Adjunct until 2006.  He was later appointed the Director of Field Studies and the Assistant Professor of Ministerial Studies and Homiletics. Shanta, Fr. Jacob’s wife, is a Professor of English at Union County College in Elizabeth, NJ. Their two daughters Anjana and Namita are married with children.  Anjana is a social worker in Baltimore and Namita is an Administrator for Princeton Review living in NJ. 

Associate Clergy.

 

Rev.Dr. Philip Yohannan is our  Associate Clergy. Achen is a zealous missionary and is the Founder and leader of Never Enough Ministries, a mission which has been passionately proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ in many remote villages in Tamilnadu, India.

 

Achen was born and brought up in Kerala, India where he served with the Children's Special Service Mission as the Field Staff worker which is an international and interdenominational organization (Scripture Union).

 

Achen received a Doctoral Degree in mission from the Carolina University of Theology, Manassas, VA and a Masters degree in Philosophy from Kerala University, India and Bachelor of Divinity and Bachelor of Theology from Serampore University, incorporated by Royal Charter act,1827 West Bengal, India.He was ordained a Deacon in April 21st, 2007 and to the Priesthood on August 26th, 2007.

Father Yohannan also a licensed  priest with the Episcopal Diocese of New York.

 

Philip Achen's dream for our church is that it will continue its growth as a multicultural and inter- generational congregation.

Achen is blessed with a caring and pleasant wife Susan Kochamma and son Timothy .
